Children's Programs

Weekly Programs*

Mother Goose Time
Amazingly, children begin the path to literacy from birth. Parents can promote literacy at this early age through book sharing, singing songs, talking, and naming objects. To this end, South Children's is pleased to present Mother Goose Time for babies aged 0 to 18 months. Miss Marianne will lead parents and caregivers through approximately 20 minutes of songs, rhymes, and finger plays with their babies, then provide time for these beginning learners to explore board books and simple toys.

Age: Birth to 18 months
Time: Tuesdays at 11:00AM
Location: Children’s Activity Room

Toddler Storytime
We love sharing stories with toddlers! Join us for 30 minutes of stories, songs, flannel boards, and fingerplays. Toddler storytime is designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years, and children must attend toddler storytime with a parent or caregiver. Please, no strollers are allowed in the storytime room.

Age: 18 months to 3 years
Time: Monday and Wednesday at 10:00AM
Location: Children’s Activity Room

Preschool Storytime
We’re waiting for you at preschool storytime! Listen to stories, sing songs, and learn fun, new fingerplays. This 30-minute storytime is designed for children aged 3 years to 6 years. Children may attend preschool storytime by themselves, but a parent or guardian must remain in the library during storytime.

Age: 3 years to 6 years
Time: Tuesday at 10:00AM and Wednesday at 11:00AM
Location: Children’s Activity Room

*Weekly programs are held during the school year only. This spring, the weekly programs will begin the week of January 7th and conclude on May 14th. Weekly programs are not held during the summer, Thanksgiving week, Spring Break, or Winter Break. When in doubt call the Children’s Reference Desk at 936-442-7727 ext 363.
