Judicial
Collections of Court Fines & Fees, Traffic Fines, Etc...
Montgomery
County Collections Department was one of the originating
counties to adopt the concept of programs developing across
the state focusing on collecting fines & fees. There are
now 35 such programs in the State of Texas. The Governmental
Collectors Association of Texas better known as GCAT
was founded by those originating counties with the concept
of supporting such programs in their development and training.
GCAT also takes an active role in legislation focusing on
the area of fines and fees in the state. There are currently
4 Justice Courts, 3 District Courts and 2 County Courts
utilizing the services of the Collections Department.
Payment Plans may be available for outstanding fines and fees after
financial assessments and evaluations are completed. After entering a plea
with the appropriate court, the Collections Department provides a payment plan
agreement and the support necessary to assist each person in successfully paying
fines and fees owed to the county. A payment plan application may be accessed
from this web site. The application must be throughly completed including all
area codes and phone numbers.
Once completed it may be faxed to 936-538-8057 - 24 hours a day.
A collector will contact you within 24 hours to set a plan for you.
Payments can be made by credit card. A collection representative may be reached
at 936-538-8197 or 936-538-8172.
The
Montgomery County Alarm Ordinance
was enacted by Commissioners in 1998 at the request of the
Sheriff's Department after responding to 24,000 false alarms
the prior year. The creation of the ordinance was established
with the concept of freeing officers to respond to legitimate
calls where needed. As the county continues to grow rapidly
the need for such an ordinance grows with it. Since implementation
the number of false alarms has been substantially reduced.
Each home owner and or business owner with an alarm system
residing in the unincorporated areas of Montgomery County
is required to obtain a permit. There is no cost for the
permit but a 5.00 renewal fee is
due annually. Five false alarms are allowed yearly. After the fifth false alarm
each alarm each thereafter will be billed to the owner at
$105.00 each. The alarm
permit application can be found on this web site and
may be faxed to 936-760-6984. Payments for renewal fees
and excess alarm fees can be paid by credit card. The Alarm
Coordinator may be reached at 936-538-8197.
